RECOMMENDED FOR School staff involved in safer recruitment
Safer recruitment training for education
When recruiting for school posts, there must be a trained Safer Recruitment Officer on your interview panel. This course is accredited via The Safer Recruitment Consortium and delivered by approved EPM trainers to help you comply with safer recruitment principles and meet the requirements of KCSIE.
Our interactive training course explores the safer recruitment aspects of hiring new employees, offering best practices and helping to significantly reduce your risk of appointing unsuitable people.
About this event
Join our safer recruitment experts, as they advise on how your school or trust can foster an environment which prevents abuse and challenges inappropriate behaviour, including:
-
Recurring themes - we’ll cover some recurring themes in high-profile professional abuse cases, how child sex abusers operate in organisations, and how it affects recruitment.
-
Safeguarding & welfare - we’ll look at how safer recruitment fits with the wider context of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within schools.
-
Planning & communicating – we’ll explore the importance of planning a recruitment exercise to ensure you send the right messages to potential applicants.
-
Decision-making - we’ll discuss the importance of making the right decisions and how structured interviews can help you to do that.
The training is split into four parts that will be delivered over two half-day events, with a short assessment at the end of each, leading to certification. Attendance on both dates is required for successful completion of the course. Since the training is accredited, it also supports your employees’ professional development.
