In today's rapidly evolving education landscape, staying informed about the latest safeguarding practices is not just important—it's essential. As a school or trust, you have a critical responsibility to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of the children and young people in your care. 

Our half-day refresher course is intended for individuals who have previously completed our full Safer Recruitment Training and can provide their full course certificate as evidence.

Upon completion, you'll receive a certificate, updated slides and a delegate workbook to support safer recruitment practices in your respective schools.

Please Note: upon signing up to this course we request that your Safer Recruitment Training certificate is sent across to consultancy@epm.co.uk. This must have taken place within the past 4 years to be valid to attend the Safer Recruitment Refresher Training.

Course highlights

Join our Safer Recruitment expert, Emma Jackson, as she guides you through key areas to ensure the highest standards of safety in your School or Trust, including:

  • recent legislative changes: understand the latest KCSIE updates and their implications for your safer recruitment practices

  • building a robust safeguarding culture: understand the essential elements of staff recruitment to mitigate the risk of unsuitable appointments 

  • optimising the recruitment process: gain insights on how to review and strengthen your school's policies and practices 

  • DBS checks: master the different types of checks and how to conduct them effectively 

  • fostering a culture of vigilance: learn how to foster and maintain an ongoing culture of vigilance that deters unsuitable people.

Please ensure payment is made at least 48 hours before you are due to attend the training.

    Emma’s background in training spans over 15 years with both small and large audiences. She has vast HR and investigation experience in education and is a CIPD-qualified HR Consultant. She is also a qualified safer recruitment trainer and a member of the Safer Recruitment Consortium.

    Emma has worked in employment and criminal law and is a very experienced investigator in both areas. Emma’s HR experience is predominately in employee relations and has specialised previously in grievances, disciplinaries and attendance management.
