About this event

Join our HR experts as they discuss the impact sickness absence can have on your school or trust and help you develop tools for managing and dealing with short-term and long-term absences. They’ll advise on how to effectively manage absence whilst remaining compliant and maintaining employee morale. We’ll cover:

  • the different types of absences

  • the importance of managing absence and the cost to your school

  • the responsibilities of the employer and employee

  • how to identify the causes of absence in the workplace

  • how to comply with employment law and best practice considerations, including the Equality Act 2010 and Employment Rights Act 1996
  • how the absence process works, covering what’s included in the informal and formal stages 

  • the role of Occupational Health​ and when to make reasonable adjustments

  • how to manage effective returns to work.

 

On completion of this course, you will receive a CPD certification. Since the training is accredited, it also supports your employees’ professional development.

    Having joined EPM in 2017, Katy has a wealth of experience supporting and advising school leaders with a range of employee relations casework, including grievances, disciplinaries, capability, redundancy, restructuring, and TUPE. She regularly assists schools with issues relating to sickness absence and has a proven track record of helping schools deliver positive outcomes in this area. In addition, she provides coaching to internal colleagues and is passionate about wellbeing issues, having gained a qualification in Mental Health First Aid.
