Understand when ill health retirement is appropriate for an employee
Having an effective understanding of ill-health retirement and when it would be appropriate for an employee or a former employee who is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), is crucial in ensuring the smooth running of you pension contributions.
Our Ill-Health Retirement Training provides the tools and strategies you need to achieve these outcomes. Our experienced trainers will guide you through the legal background behind ill-health retirement and what these are while drawing back to basics to understand exactly what it is. You'll learn the benefits and costs to ill-health retirement as well as, how to apply for ill-health benefits.

About this event
Join our HR experts as they discuss what ill-health retirement is and the benefits it can have on your school or trust and help you develop tools for managing and dealing with this. We’ll cover:
- when ill-health retirement is appropriate for an employee or a former employee who is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
- the process for making a referral to the Independent Registered Medical Practitioner (more commonly known as the Independent Doctor)
- how to give support to the customer
- legal background of ill-health retirement

Your Host
Abbie has been supporting Schools and Trusts for 29 years' working within the HR Advisory Team here at EPM. She has been providing a wide variety of advice and guidance from people management to employee relations.
Abbie is qualified at CIPD Level 7 and has experience of working closely with Trusts on HR matters in the capacity of a consultant.

Your Host
Claire has over 10 years' experience working within the HR Advisory Team here at EPM and has been able to support Schools and Trusts with a wide variety of matters. Some of the areas Claire has supported our clients with are people management, and employee relations cases.
Claire also has 13 years' experience of the public service pension fund administration, including the Local Government Pension Scheme. All of which was obtained prior to joining EPM. This allows her to bring a unique insight into the employer function of pensions administration and the associated implications.
