Understanding immigration and the benefits it brings

Our exclusive Home Office training will provide you with an overview of the benefits immigration can bring looking at pre entry, on entry and after entry rules, what is involved in each stage and what can happen if rules are not followed. 

This highly interactive session will explain the controls that are in place to allow immigrants access to work, benefits and services and what the guidance is surrounding immigration. 

About this event

This session will be delivered by the Home Office with the help of our safer recruitment expert, Beth Alberga. You'll get a clear understanding of what immigration looks like in the UK and will lean the language and guidance surrounding this. We'll cover:

  • an overview of immigration to Britain 

  • benefits of immigration and an overview of some of the legal routes to the UK

  • the controls in place to allow access to work, benefits, and services 

  • some of the technical language, legislation, and guidance

    Beth’s background in safeguarding and safer recruitment spans over 10 years. Her education experience includes work as a qualified trainer, having completed the Safer Recruitment Consortium training and her years of service with EPM. Beth is part of the South-east England Safeguarding Network Group whose aim is to keep safeguarding high on everybody’s agenda. She is also part of regional groups and national forums that share best practices and develop policy as part of a DfE working group formed during consultation for the KCSIE 2016, 2018 and 2019 documents.
